In Hot Pursuit Of Google’S Algorithm Changes

5 minutes read

Google implements changes on its search algorithm for about 500 to 600 times every year. Most updates are minor and almost negligible, but some changes are so huge, they virtually change the rules of the game (i.e., Google Penguin in 2012 and Panda in 2011).

Though these updates are geared towards improving user experience and search results, these can negatively affect the rankings of websites, even though they are using White Hat SEO techniques. As such, keeping an eye on Google’s evolving algorithms is a must if you want to align your SEO strategies with their latest updates and keep your spot on the first page of SERPs.

The catch is, Google does not exactly apprise anybody of these updates, so it falls on your shoulders to be vigilant and catch these changes as they happen. Below, we have listed some useful tools that can help you monitor Google’s algorithm changes:

Mozcast

Mozcast is currently one of the most widely used tools for tracking Google Analytics and updates. It features data gathered over the latest 30-day period in the form of temperatures and weather forecasts. According to their website, “the hotter and stormier the weather, the more Google’s rankings changed.”

Algoroo

Algoroo shows the most recent Google Analytics changes through graphs. Its system reportedly keeps track of about 17,000 keywords across 100 search positions and closely monitors fluctuations in keyword rankings. With Algoroo, you can get an overview of updates that took place in the past, including indicators as to the exact dates when significant fluctuations occurred.

SERPmetrics

SERPmetrics is one of the oldest tools out there. It monitors 100,000 keywords and uses a line graph to depict results covering a 30-day period.

SERPWoo

Though a relatively newcomer in the game, SERPWoo offers accurate and detailed insights on Google’s algorithms, including a Google volatility chart that spans 28 countries. You can use SERPWoo to check Google’s SERP fluctuations and analytics.

Rank Risk Index

Rank Risk Index by Rank Ranger gauges more than 10,000 domains and keywords on a daily basis. With this tool, you can get an overview of SERP fluctuations that happened over the last 30 and 90 days. It also offers results on Desktop and Mobile searches.

Don’t get left behind. In the SEO landscape, adapting to change and keeping up with evolving trends is key to survival.
